How We Work Together

Image of people working around round tables during breakfast session of a small business conferenceThe ISP was established by a coalition of companies in Lorain County to address challenges and opportunities within the manufacturing sector. As an employer-driven partnership, the ISP is committed to:

  • Increasing Manufacturing Career Pathway Awareness: Promoting understanding and interest in manufacturing careers among students, educators, and the broader community to build a strong talent pipeline.
  • Developing Industry-Specific Workforce Readiness Curricula: Creating customized training programs and curriculum that align with the specific skills and competencies needed by local manufacturers.
  • Supporting Up-skilling and Re-skilling Initiatives: Providing opportunities for current workers to enhance their skills or transition to new roles within the manufacturing sector, ensuring an adaptable and resilient workforce.
  • Advocacy: Advocating for and implementing educational programs that allow students to gain practical work experience while earning credentials or degrees, such as apprenticeships and internships.

By collaborating closely, our members pinpoint common issues such as workforce shortages, skills gaps, and the need for updated training programs. Through facilitated discussions and focused working groups, we develop targeted solutions that are responsive to the evolving needs of manufacturers, ensuring that all voices are heard and that strategies align with the broader goals of the community.

This helps create a favorable environment for manufacturers, promoting economic development and ensuring that industry concerns are represented at all levels.
