Established in 1987, the Ohio Employee Ownership Center (OEOC), is an outreach center based at the main campus of Kent State University. They provide succession planning support and assistance to business owners with a specialty in sales to employees. Since their founding they have helped over 700 companies develop succession plans, 100 in which employee ownership was fully or partially implemented

Promise Partners is an Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition (ETA) Accelerator that helps entrepreneurial people primarily in Northeast Ohio achieve their dream of business ownership using ETA strategies. To date, Promise has helped 65 people become owners in over 90 companies.

Weatherhead School of Management (WSOM) at Case Western Reserve University is a pioneer in Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition (ETA) education, going back to the late 1970s when the late Richard L. Osborne started exposing students to ETA as a career path and founding Promise Partner's ETA Accelerator in 1992. Today, WSOM has one of the most mature ETA programs in the world.
