We love sharing stories about the awesome apprentices we serve. Find out more about Bee, Walter, and Jordan by clicking on their names below.
Bee: Breaking Barriers, Building Excellence
Bee began her journey in manufacturing with a pre-apprenticeship at LCJVS while still in high school. Forgoing a traditional college path, she followed her passion for hands-on work and excelled in her apprenticeship program.
As the only woman in her cohort, Bee faced moments of self-doubt in a male-dominated environment but quickly silenced those doubts with her performance. Her mentor praised her for surpassing her male peers in both productivity and quality.
Today, Bee is a role model, proving to other young women that there’s a place for them in the shop and a future for them in manufacturing.
Walter: Welding a Future of Stability
Walter blazed a new trail as the first journeyman welder at Halvorsen. Known for his strong work ethic, Walter completed his on-the-job training ahead of schedule.
But his accomplishments weren’t just professional. He also used his success to build a life. Walter purchased a home and started a family, showing that apprenticeship is a launchpad for long-term stability and prosperity.
His story is one of upward mobility powered by skill, dedication, and the right opportunity.
Jordan: From Marine Corps to Master Craftsman
After graduating as Valedictorian from Max Hayes High School, Jordan began studying chemical engineering at CSU. Two years later, he sought a more hands-on path and enlisted in the Marine Corps, where he became a skilled welder.
Following his service, Jordan’s passion for craftsmanship led him to machining at WLS Stamping. Within just six months, his dedication earned him a spot in the company’s tool and die apprenticeship program.
Now in his fourth year, he’s on track to become a journeyman, continuing to grow, learn, and inspire those around him.
The skills gap isn't going away, but you can take action now. While other manufacturers struggle with unfilled positions and costly turnover, you can be building a pool of skilled, loyal workers trained specifically for your operations. Apprenticeship programs are proven to work, funding is available, and motivated candidates are ready to start. Connect with Beth Dawson to learn more about the program and take the first step toward securing your company's talent.
