Our team at Manufacturing Works is constantly inspired by individuals who take bold steps to pursue their dreams in the industry. Two such individuals are these apprentices who have demonstrated incredible dedication, hard work, and perseverance on their journey toward careers in manufacturing. We're excited to share their success with you in our video, Manufacturing Works for Her, right in time for National Apprenticeship Day on April 30th.
Angilique, Mari-Elen, and I got a chance to visit them at their workplaces, "surprising" them with sweet treats after interviewing them.
What's so great about their stories is this truth: when young people are exposed to manufacturing early and supported throughout their journey, incredible things happen. When we invest in their development, we open the door to new career pathways they never imagined would be a good fit for them.
Through hands-on learning, apprentices gain confidence by becoming more competent, and in turn, their employers get loyal employees who are grateful for the opportunity to earn while they learn.
It was a blast talking with the apprentices, Alexandra and Amanda, for Mari-Elen and me who had just met them, and Angilique who has been their mentor all along.
Alexandra earned her pre-apprenticeship certificate just last year. During filming, her mentor pulled us aside and let us know how incredibly well Alexandra's doing on the job, and you can tell by her smile that she loves what she does.
Amanda is a mom who had dreams of being a social worker in high school. Now she gets the chance to learn new things every day and cross paths at work with her husband while they manage stable careers and family time.
Behind the scenes for the filming of this video, we discussed the challenges and the triumphs and encouraged Amanda and Alexandra to keep striving because they are positioned for nothing but success in their careers. The coolest part? They know it.
We couldn't be prouder of all our apprentices' accomplishments to date and can't wait to see the impact they make. Cheers to the future of manufacturing!
