We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new website, Opportunity Works, an online platform designed to revolutionize manufacturing workforce development in Lorain County and beyond. In collaboration with our partners, we are committed to empowering our community through innovative training programs and partnerships that create sustainable career pathways in manufacturing.
About Opportunity Works
Opportunity Works is part of the nationwide Good Jobs Challenge, which invests $500 million to enhance regional workforce training systems. Through the Lorain County Manufacturing Sector Partnership (LCMSP), endorsed by the Ohio Manufacturers’ Association (OMA), we have secured $930,000 in funding over the next three years to align our training programs with the needs of local manufacturers.
Our Goal
We are committed to achieving the following outcomes under this grant:
- Enrolling 180 individuals in WorkAdvance or upskilling training programs
- Achieving an 80% program completion rate and a 70% credential rate
- Placing 150 participants into quality manufacturing jobs or securing wage increases for incumbent workers
- Achieving a retention rate of 70% at both the 6- and 12-month marks
Our Proven Model
Under the Opportunity Works banner, we leverage the successful WorkAdvance model, collaborating with esteemed community partners such as Lorain County JVS, Lorain County Community College (LCCC), Lorain County Urban League, Reach Success, P2R, OhioMeansJobs (OMJ), and Firelands Forward.
Together, we focus on:
- Recruiting and Screening
- Job Readiness and Technical Training
- Career Coaching, Placement, and Retention
